On June 14, Congresswoman Veronica Escobar (TX-16) released the following statement on her appointment to serve on the House Armed Services Committee’s Quality of Life Panel:

“I’m honored to have been selected to serve on the newly created Quality of Life panel of the House Armed Services Committee. Our servicemembers and their families face distinct challenges that deserve robust resources consistent with the sacrifices they make for our country.

“As the representative for the second largest Army installation in our country at Fort Bliss, I have consistently advocated for policies and legislation that improve the quality of life, morale, and safety of our servicemembers. I will remain wholeheartedly committed to this work as a member of this important panel.”

The Quality of Life Panel will focus on issues that impact U.S. service members and their families, including compensation, child care, housing, support programs for spouses of service members, and health care. The panel will provide a written report to the Military Personnel Subcommittee Chair and Ranking Member, which will include recommended proposals for the Fiscal Year (FY) 2025 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

Congresswoman Escobar joins Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE) - Chairman, Rep. Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA) - Ranking Member, Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC), Rep. Morgan Luttrell (R-TX), Rep. Jen Kiggans (R-VA), Rep. James Moylan (R-GU), Rep. Mark Alford (R-MO), Rep Jim Banks (R-IN)- ex officio, Rep. Sara Jacobs (D-CA), Rep. Marilyn Strickland (D-WA), Rep. Don Davis (D-NC), and Rep. Andy Kim (D-NJ) - ex officio on the panel.
