U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has taken a Mexican national into custody in Oklahoma, following his conviction for homicide. Carlos Ambriz, 53, was arrested on March 25 by the ICE Dallas Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Fugitive Operations and ERO Special Response teams. Ambriz was previously deported and was living unlawfully in the United States.
Ambriz was convicted in Montana for deliberate homicide, a felony offense for which he was sentenced to 40 years in prison. ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Dallas Field Office acting Director Josh Johnson commented, "This subject’s criminal record underscores the significant danger he represents to our community, particularly with the serious charge and conviction for killing his own child. Our officers remain committed to enhancing public safety by apprehending and removing criminal aliens who violate immigration laws."
While incarcerated at the Montana State Prison, Ambriz was encountered by immigration officers and served a notice to appear before an immigration judge. An immigration judge ordered his removal to Mexico on July 3, 1999, near Seattle, Washington. Ambriz was subsequently deported to Mexico on January 26, 2006, near the Paseo Del Norte, Texas, Bridge.
Currently, Ambriz remains in ICE custody awaiting removal from the United States. The public is encouraged to report any crimes or suspicious activities to the ICE Tip Line at 866-DHS-2-ICE or by completing the online tip form.
