Rep. Veronica Escobar, serving in the U.S. Congress representing Texas' 16th district, recently addressed some significant events and issues through a series of tweets. Escobar, who has been serving since 2019, replaced Beto O'Rourke in her congressional journey and has been vocal about various political and social matters.

In a tweet from April 7, 2025, Escobar referenced a situation involving former President Trump’s response to a question regarding economic impact. "When asked if there was a limit to the economic pain he was inflicting, Trump called the question 'so stupid.' He does not care that your retirement plummeted or that he's wiped out billions in savings. His response was 'sometimes you have to take medicine to fix something.'"

Later the same day, the Congresswoman highlighted the actions of Republican colleagues regarding a significant economic downturn. "New week, same GOP priorities. Except Republicans are sitting on their hands as Trump singlehandedly triggers the worst three day S&P crash in decades."

In a subsequent tweet, Escobar criticized the alleged censorship at the Naval Academy, particularly regarding stories that do not align with the former administration's vision. "Stories that don't conform to the Trump administration's vision of an all-white America are being erased or censored at the Naval Academy, including those by El Paso's own Ron Stallworth. Whitewashing our 'history' is racist and anti-American."

Escobar's educational background includes a BA from the University of Texas, El Paso, and she has served in various governmental capacities, bringing attention to her region and state’s issues on a national platform.
