U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has apprehended Carlos Daniel Teran-Aguilar, a Venezuelan national sought by Chile for narcotics and weapons trafficking. The arrest took place on January 26 during routine operations in Austin, Texas. Teran-Aguilar, an 18-year-old member of the Tren de Aragua criminal group, is currently in ICE custody.
Miguel Vergara, Director of the ICE Enforcement and Removals Operations San Antonio Field Office, stated: “We will continue prioritizing public safety as targets are identified and arrested. Our brave officers are out on the streets everyday removing the most egregious criminal aliens.”
Teran-Aguilar was initially encountered by U.S. Customs and Border Protection at the Port of Entry in Calexico, California on November 1, 2024. At that time, he was paroled into the United States.
