Servio Barros-Terreros, a 58-year-old man from Ecuador who last lived in Stamford, Connecticut, has been sentenced to 320 months in prison. This follows his conviction for taking pictures of his repeated sexual abuse of a minor.
The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) investigation revealed that in December 2022, a minor female victim reported that Barros sexually assaulted her multiple times. He took sexually explicit photos of her and threatened to publish them if she disclosed the abuse. Barros also instructed the victim to undress during video calls he initiated, engaging in sexually explicit conduct.
“Not only did Barros sexually abuse a young child, he used guilt and fear to threaten her and prevent her from coming forward about this abuse. It takes real bravery to overcome those threats and thanks to her perseverance, this predator is facing serious time behind bars as well as deportation after the completion of his sentence,” stated ICE Homeland Security Investigations New England Special Agent in Charge Michael J. Krol.
Barros was arrested by Stamford Police on January 12, 2023, on state charges related to sexual assault and risk of injury offenses. His iPhone was seized during the arrest, and analysis by ICE special agents uncovered sexually explicit images involving the minor victim.
Detained since his arrest, Barros pleaded guilty on March 5, 2024, in federal court to production of child pornography. Having entered the U.S. illegally at an unknown date and location, Barros will face immigration proceedings upon completing his prison term.
The case was investigated by ICE New England’s Hartford Resident Agent in Charge office along with the Stamford Police Department.
