U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), in collaboration with the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, has arrested Luis Miguel Perez-Miranda, a Salvadoran national and MS-13 gang member. The arrest occurred on February 24, just hours after he allegedly committed a murder in the Colony Ridge subdivision in Plum Grove, Texas.

Perez-Miranda, aged 34, was apprehended following a manhunt in Dayton, Texas. He is now held at the Liberty County Jail.

Bret Bradford, ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Houston Field Office Director, stated: “Despite attempts by some to spread false information and rumors about the brave men and women who work for ICE, they continue to come in to work every day and put their own lives at risk to make our communities safer.” He further emphasized that without their dedication, "this dangerous MS-13 gang member who allegedly butchered an innocent man earlier in the day would still be at-large."

Chad Plantz, ICE Homeland Security Investigations Houston Special Agent in Charge, commented: “The residents in Southeast Texas can rest easier knowing this dangerous transnational gang member has been removed from the community and is safely in custody.” He credited strong relationships with federal, state, and local law enforcement partners for enabling quick apprehension within hours.

Perez-Miranda has entered the U.S. illegally multiple times. He was expelled under Title 42 in August 2021 and removed to El Salvador on several occasions between September 2009 and March 2023. His criminal record includes convictions for drug trafficking and possession as well as illegal entry into the U.S.
