Rep. Veronica Escobar, who has served in the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 16th district since 2019, recently expressed her views on various national and international issues through a series of tweets.
On January 26, 2025, Rep. Escobar criticized former President Trump's decision to impose "emergency tariffs" on Colombia, which led to retaliatory measures from the South American nation. She highlighted that "President Biden had worked to establish stability with Colombia - to help with migration and trade," a relationship she suggests was destabilized within a week due to these actions.
The following day, January 27, 2025, Rep. Escobar marked Holocaust Remembrance Day by honoring the memory of those lost during the Holocaust. She stated that "we remember the six million Jewish people and countless others murdered" and emphasized the importance of combating antisemitism and upholding the promise of "#NeverAgain."
On January 28, 2025, Rep. Escobar addressed concerns regarding an executive order by former President Trump. She noted that "these exceptions are incredibly important but THEY ARE NOT WRITTEN IN THE EO," criticizing what she perceives as a lack of consideration for consequences in policy-making.
