Rep. Veronica Escobar, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 16th district, has been vocal on social media about various issues concerning government priorities and community resources. Her recent tweets address her concerns regarding Republican policies and their impact on essential services.

On January 29, 2025, Rep. Escobar criticized Republican views on free lunch programs for children, stating: "Leave it to Republicans to callously, heartlessly argue that kids who participate in free lunch programs 'sponge off the government.' Republican priorities are not YOUR priorities."

Later that day, she highlighted challenges faced by Medicaid portals and funding access for community health centers in El Paso. She attributed these issues to policies aimed at reducing jobs and cutting programs while benefiting billionaires with tax breaks: "None of this changes that Medicaid portals were down, community health centers couldn’t access funding, & governments offering critical services in El Paso aren’t sure if they’ll be reimbursed. Trump is trying to eliminate jobs & cut programs to give billionaires tax breaks."

In a subsequent tweet posted at the same time, Rep. Escobar reaffirmed her commitment to advocating for necessary resources and services for her community: "I won’t stop fighting for the resources and services our community earned and deserves."
