U.S. Rep. Veronica Escobar (D-TX) tweeted condolences after a deadly shooting at Colorado nightclub.
"My heart goes out to the Colorado Springs community, especially the victims, survivors and their families," she tweeted.
At least five people were killed and 25 others injured in Colorado Springs, Colorado, when a 22-year-old gunman opened fire inside a nightclub just before midnight Saturday, CNN reported. The shooting happened at Club Q, a LGBTQ nightclub. The police said at least two people confronted and fought the gunman and stopped him.

The shooting lasted only a few minutes, according CNN. According to police, several 911 calls were made beginning at 11:56 p.m., officers were dispatched at 11:57 p.m., an officer arrived at midnight, and the subject was apprehended at 12:02 a.m. 39 patrol officers responded, while Fire Department Captain Mike Smaldino said 11 ambulances were dispatched to the location.
Club Q's relationship with the LGBTQ community was noted by police as a factor in investigating whether the attack was a hate crime. “Club Q is a safe haven for our LGBTQ citizens,” Colorado Springs Police Chief Adrian Vasquez said, according to CNN. “Every citizen has a right to feel safe and secure in our city, to go about our beautiful city without fear of being harmed or treated poorly.”
