EL PASO, Texas—The City of El Paso Public Libraries and Parks and Recreation Department are seeking booth exhibitors, volunteers and parade participants for the 28th annual Día de los Niños, Día de los Libros event happening April 27 at Washington Park.

Every year, the two City departments come together to showcase the El Paso’s Children’s Day celebration that brings together thousands of people.

This year the free, family-friendly event will include a walking parade leading to Washington Park. The Public Libraries encourages community organizations, schools, musical groups, and others to participate in the parade.

In addition, volunteers are needed as well as community organizations to host activity booths at the event.

Registration and information to be part of the parade, become a volunteer or take part as an exhibitor for the event, is available by calling (915) 212-3217 or visiting www.ElPasoLibrary.org .

About Día de los Ninos, Día de los Libros

Initiated in 1997 by El Paso native and children's book author Pat Mora, Día de los Niños, Día de los Libros urges educators and librarians nationwide to celebrate April 30 by honoring children, following Latin American culture. Mora's vision aimed to cultivate a love for reading among children, recognizing its pivotal role in their academic and lifelong success.

For over 25 years, the El Paso Public Libraries and Parks and Recreation, supported by various City departments, have collaboratively organized this remarkable celebration.
