University of Texas at El Paso employee Ahsan Choudhuri donates $1,000 to Veronica Escobar's campaign

Ahsan Choudhuri, an employee at The University of Texas at El Paso, donated $1,000 to Democratic Party candidate Veronica Escobar, according to the Federal Election Commission.

According to records, there have been $9,171 in campaign contributions made by individuals affiliated with The University of Texas at El Paso as of November 3. Approximately 88 percent, or $8,071, of these contributions were made to Democratic Party candidates and committees.

Ann B. Horak's contribution of $2,000 to Democratic Party Shannon Hutcheson was the largest contribution made by someone affiliated with The University of Texas at El Paso since January 1, 2019.

According to an Inside Higher Ed analysis of federal elections data, individuals that were affiliated with colleges and universities have donated five times more money to Joe Biden than to President Trump. A study by Pew Research in 2017 found that 58 percent of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents thought colleges and universities have a negative impact on the way things are going in this country.
