Congresswoman Veronica Escobar (D-TX) believes comments made by Congresswomen Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) about the Capitol attack on January 6, 2020, are "un-American and dangerous."

Escobar expressed her disappointment on her Twitter upon hearing about Greene's alleged statements that had she and Steve Bannon organized the attack a successful coup would have taken place.

“'We would’ve won' and 'been armed.' Winning = overturning an election. Being armed = using force to do it," Escobar wrote in the December 12 tweet. "She represents today’s Republican party and defines a coup as 'winning.'”

In the tweet, Escobar shared a link to a Rolling Stone article that noted Greene reportedly made the remarks at Saturday's New York Young Republican Club dinner. Donald Trump, Jr. and Jack Posobiec were also guest speakers at the event. The article noted Greene's comments "seemed to imply" she had no involvement in the planning behind what happened on January 6.

According to the Rolling Stone article, during her speech, Greene allegedly claimed that if she and Steve Bannon had organized the attack on the Capitol that they would have won and would have been armed. Later, Greene stated that her comment on the attack was only sarcasm. The White House had condemned what she said.

”This is un-American and dangerous. And Republican silence is complicity", Escobar added in the tweet.
