U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested Kelvin Emanuel Granados-Sorto, a 30-year-old Honduran national and undocumented immigrant, following his transfer from the Maryland Department of Corrections. Granados was convicted for a third-degree sex offense.

Nikita Baker, the acting Field Office Director of ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations in Baltimore, emphasized the importance of cooperation between jurisdictions. "This arrest sends a clear message: when jurisdictions cooperate with ICE, communities are safer," she stated. Baker added, "A criminal alien sex-offender was taken into ICE custody because law enforcement worked together. Today, there is one less predator in our neighborhoods and one less victim tomorrow. This is what public safety looks like when we prioritize the protection of our communities over politics."

Granados entered the United States without inspection, admission, or parole by an immigration official at an unspecified time and place. The Circuit Court for Prince George’s County found him guilty of a sex offense on May 12, 2023, sentencing him to a decade in prison. On July 12, 2023, ICE filed an immigration detainer against him with the Maryland Department of Corrections.

An immigration judge from the Department of Justice ordered Granados's removal to Honduras on October 24, 2023. He remains in ICE custody as he awaits deportation.
