ICE apprehends undocumented immigrant convicted | U.S. Immigration And Customs Enforcement
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) recently apprehended Osmin Guevara-Ramirez, a 32-year-old undocumented immigrant from El Salvador, following his release from Wyoming Correctional Facility in Attica, New York on March 28. This arrest comes after Guevara's conviction by the Nassau County Supreme Court for attempted murder and gang assault, resulting in a sentence of six years imprisonment and five years of post-release supervision dating back to September 3, 2021.
Guevara entered the United States near McAllen, Texas, around June 30, 2015, without official admission or parole. He was subsequently arrested by U.S. Border Patrol on July 10, 2015, near Lake Charles, Louisiana. At that time, he was issued a notice to appear and was placed in removal proceedings. Following this, an immigration judge ordered that Guevara be released on bond on August 27, 2015, and then ordered a change in the venue of his immigration proceedings from Louisiana to New York.
An immigration judge ordered his removal in absentia on January 23, 2023. ICE had previously lodged an immigration detainer against Guevara on December 8, 2023, which was honored by the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision. Guevara remains detained in ICE custody without bond.
