U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has removed Orbelin Benitez-Carbajal, a 49-year-old previously deported criminal alien convicted of manslaughter, back to Mexico on March 17. ICE officials transported Benitez-Carbajal from the Montgomery Processing Center in Conroe, Texas, to the Laredo Port of Entry where he was released into Mexico.
Benitez-Carbajal had been deported previously on December 11, 2014. While illegally residing in the U.S., he was convicted of several offenses including manslaughter in Travis County, Texas on July 22, 2010; assault in Travis County on April 25, 2006; driving while intoxicated in Austin, Texas on December 5, 2023; and illegal entry in the Western District of Texas on January 25, 2024.
Bret Bradford, ICE Enforcement and Removal Operation Houston Field Office Director stated: “This violent criminal alien has repeatedly and recklessly flaunted our nation’s system of laws and as a direct result he was responsible for taking an innocent life.” He added that despite being imprisoned and deported back to Mexico once before, Benitez-Carbajal illegally re-entered the U.S. and committed further crimes.
