U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), in collaboration with the FBI and the Drug Enforcement Administration, arrested a 28-year-old Brazilian fugitive in Medfield, Massachusetts, on February 18. The individual is wanted in Brazil for illegal firearm possession and making threats.

Patricia H. Hyde, acting Field Office Director of ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston, stated, "The apprehension of this Brazilian fugitive underscores ICE’s commitment to ensuring the safety of our New England communities." She emphasized that New England will not serve as a refuge for international criminals.

The fugitive entered the United States illegally at an unspecified time and location without inspection or admission by U.S. immigration officials. Brazilian authorities had issued an arrest warrant on September 21, 2022, charging him with threats and illegal firearm possession. If convicted in Brazil, he faces up to 12-and-a-half years in prison.

Following his arrest, ICE issued a notice for the alien to appear before a Department of Justice immigration judge and initiated removal proceedings. He remains detained by ICE.

The public is encouraged to report crimes or suspicious activities through the ICE Tip Line at 866-DHS-2-ICE (866-347-2423) or via their online tip form.
