U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in collaboration with the Drug Enforcement Administration apprehended Stivenson Omar Perez-Ajtzalan, a 19-year-old illegal immigrant from Guatemala, on January 30 in Lawrence, Massachusetts. Perez-Ajtzalan faces charges of aggravated rape of a child.

Patricia H. Hyde, acting Field Office Director for ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston, stated: “Stivenson Omar Perez-Ajtzalan entered this country illegally and victimized a Massachusetts child ten years his junior.” She further emphasized that "not only did Perez display a blatant disregard for our immigration laws, he sexually assaulted a child. He came to this country to do harm, and now he must be made to face the consequences of his actions." Hyde reiterated ICE Boston's commitment to "protecting public safety by arresting and removing illegal alien offenders from New England."

Perez was arraigned at the Lawrence District Court on December 20, 2024, on felony charges related to the aggravated rape of a child with a significant age difference. These charges are still pending.

Following his arrest, ICE issued Perez a notice to appear before an immigration judge from the Department of Justice and initiated removal proceedings. He is currently held in ICE custody.

The public is encouraged to report any crimes or suspicious activities by contacting the ICE Tip Line at 866-DHS-2-ICE (866-347-2423) or by filling out an online tip form.
