U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Tegucigalpa, in collaboration with the ICE HSI Transnational Criminal Investigative Unit and Operation Underground Railroad, conducted a Know2Protect iGuardian presentation on February 20 at the American School of Tegucigalpa in Honduras. The event was designed to educate students, teachers, school administrators, and parents about online child exploitation and abuse prevention.
"Partnering with international communities like the American School of Tegucigalpa is an essential step in creating a safer digital world for children everywhere," stated Know2Protect Campaign Director Kate Kennedy. She emphasized the importance of empowering students, parents, and educators with knowledge and tools to combat online threats.
The presentation included three briefings tailored for middle and high school students as well as parents and trusted adults, reaching over 650 attendees. Participants interacted with Homeland Security experts about online safety and received resources on recognizing and preventing online child exploitation. They also learned practical tips for securing personal devices and monitoring online activity.
“The interactive nature of the presentations kept our students actively involved, and the resources shared align perfectly with our school's mission of ensuring student safety both online and offline,” said American School of Tegucigalpa Superintendent Liliana Jenkins in a letter to presenters.
The Know2Protect iGuardian program is delivered by ICE HSI special agents and other subject matter experts as part of efforts to fight against online child exploitation globally.
