U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested Manuel Tellez, a 48-year-old Mexican national, in Dallas on March 4. The arrest followed his identification as removable after being apprehended for murder on April 3, 2022.

According to court records from the 265th District Court in Dallas County, Texas, Tellez was arrested for stabbing a man seven times, which resulted in the victim's death. After leaving the scene, Tellez returned with gasoline, poured it over the deceased's body, and set it ablaze.

Tellez initially faced homicide charges but pleaded guilty to manslaughter. Consequently, he did not receive prison time but was instead placed under community supervision for eight years.

“This is an egregious offender,” stated ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Dallas acting Field Office Director Josh Johnson. “We are grateful for our federal partners within the Justice Department and U.S. Customs and Border Protection for helping us remove this high priority target from our communities.”

ICE worked alongside federal law enforcement partners from the FBI and CBP to apprehend Tellez within the community. He remains in ICE custody awaiting immigration removal proceedings.

The public can report crimes or suspicious activities by calling 866-347-2423 or using ICE’s online tip form. More information about ICE’s mission to maintain public safety is available on X at @ERODallas.
