U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), in collaboration with Norfolk Southern Railroad Federal Police, the U.S. Marshals Service, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, conducted a targeted enforcement operation in Charlotte on February 6, 2025. The operation resulted in the arrest of five individuals identified as illegal aliens.

The initiative aimed to enhance the safety of freight trains and their crews traveling through Charlotte. This effort was in response to increased reports of gang-affiliated individuals on rail tracks engaging in activities such as threatening citizens and railway employees, selling narcotics, trespassing, and other criminal behaviors.

All arrested individuals are currently held on administrative charges and remain in ICE custody pending removal from the United States.

ICE emphasizes its commitment to public safety and addressing national security threats. During enforcement operations, individuals found illegally present in the country may be detained and processed for removal according to legal procedures.

The public is encouraged to report crimes or suspicious activities by contacting the ICE Tip Line at 866-DHS-2-ICE (866-347-2423) or submitting information through an online tip form.
