U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has deported two Honduran nationals who were illegally residing in the United States and had been convicted of felony sexual offenses. The removals took place on March 3.

Rito Emanuel Reconco-Castro, aged 28, entered the U.S. at an unspecified time and location without official permission. He was encountered by the U.S. Border Patrol on March 29, 2014, and subsequently placed into removal proceedings after being issued a notice to appear. On June 11, 2021, he was convicted of attempted rape in the first degree by Suffolk County Court and sentenced to seven years in prison. An immigration judge ordered his removal on November 20, 2024. ICE arrested him upon his release from Wende Correctional Facility in Alden, New York, on February 7.

Hugo Abraham Aguilar, aged 45, also entered the U.S. unlawfully at an unknown date and location without admission by an immigration official. He was arrested by the Morris County prosecutor in Morristown, New Jersey for sexual assault of a victim under age 13 on February 7, 2014; he was found guilty of these charges. Aguilar was later arrested by Dover Police Department on November 6, 2017 for violating a judicial restraining order and again found guilty.

An immigration judge ordered Aguilar's removal to Honduras on May 11, 2018. His appeal to the Board of Immigration Appeals was dismissed on October 1, 2018; a subsequent appeal to the U.S Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit was denied on July 10, 2024. ICE detained Aguilar during a traffic stop on February 2 pending his removal as per the judge’s order.

The public is encouraged to report crimes or suspicious activities through ICE's hotline at "866-347-2423" or via their online tip form.
