U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) collaborated with the Fayetteville Police Department in North Carolina to arrest Mackendy Darbouze, a 26-year-old Haitian national, on February 21. The arrest followed a 911 call that led police to discover three deceased individuals and a bloody knife at a residence.
Due to Darbouze's inability to speak English, ICE was contacted for assistance in conducting an interview using their interpreter and translation services. Following the interview, Darbouze was charged with three counts of first-degree murder.
Darbouze had entered the United States legally in July 2024. He is currently held at the Cumberland County Jail with an ICE detainer placed on him.
The investigation is being conducted jointly by ICE and the Fayetteville Police Department.
