U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has taken into custody Mark Adrian Vicars, a 58-year-old citizen of the United Kingdom, for being illegally present in the United States. The arrest occurred on February 21, following his release from the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York. Vicars was previously convicted for impersonating a U.S. Federal Air Marshal and other offenses.
"Vicars not only dishonored our federal law enforcement community and violated our nation’s immigration laws, but he posed a clear and present threat to the community’s safety being heavily armed with illegal weapons," stated ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations New York City acting Field Office Director William P. Joyce. "Anyone who illegally arrives in our U.S. cities to cause havoc on our streets is a prime target for removal from our nation."
Currently detained without bond at the Batavia Federal Detention Facility, Vicars awaits his removal from the United States.
In previous legal proceedings, the Nassau County Court sentenced Vicars on September 8, 2017, to multiple concurrent sentences related to firearm possession. These included six years imprisonment and five years post-release supervision for criminal possession of a weapon and loaded firearm; another six years imprisonment and five years post-release supervision for criminal possession of a weapon with five or more firearms; and one year imprisonment for possession of a forged instrument.
Additionally, on October 23, 2024, Vicars received a four-month imprisonment sentence with two years supervised release for making false statements on a passport application.
The public can report crimes or suspicious activities by calling 866-347-2423 or completing ICE's online tip form.
