The Woody and Gayle Hunt Family Foundation has earmarked a $25 million donation to the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), the university announced this week.
According to a news release, UTEP will name its college of business administration as the Woody L. Hunt College of Business, in honor of the largest donation ever received by the university.
"This is a transformational gift that will impact this region for decades to come,” UTEP President Heather Wilson said in the release.
UTEP noted that the foundation’s gift will set up the university’s Woody L. Hunt College of Business as a leader in the analysis and instruction of business and trade between Mexico and the United States.
“Mexico is America’s second largest trading partner, and 20% of U.S. trade with Mexico flows through El Paso,” Wilson said in the release. “This generous gift from the Hunt family will make the Woody L. Hunt College of Business the place to go to study and research trade and business between our countries.”
The donation also will help the university establishment scholarship and educational opportunities, with UTEP one of the few business schools along the border, the release said.
