U.S. Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-Texas) spent his Saturday morning visiting the El Pasoans Fighting Hunger (EPFH) Food Bank to learn more about the organization.

"Started off the morning with a visit to the El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank to learn more about their mission," he said in a Nov. 5 tweet. "Thank you to all who donate their time and resources to this inspiring organization."

EPFH is El Paso's only food bank and a member of Feeding America, the United States' largest hunger relief network. The food bank currently serves 200,000 food-insecure individuals in multiple demographics including children, single-parent households, veterans, senior citizens and working-class families. EPFH also functions as a distribution center for over 132 pantries and 993 mobile pantries. In 2021, the food bank distributed 139.6 million pounds of food.

The EPFH website noted that one in every three children, as well as one in every four adults, is unsure of where their next meal will come from.

There are many ways to get involved with EPFH, with the organization identifying the best option as hosting a virtual food drive—an online fundraising campaign unimpacted by social distancing guidelines. Other methods of getting involved include hosting an in-person food drive, volunteering or donating funds by mail, phone or online. Further information can be found on EPFH's official website.
