U.S. Representative Veronica Escobar has issued a series of public statements on social media emphasizing the need for urgent humanitarian assistance in Gaza following a recent United Nations declaration of famine. In her posts, Escobar called for immediate action to prevent starvation among children and infants and urged the Trump Administration to leverage its influence to ensure aid reaches those affected.

On August 26, 2025, Escobar wrote, “We stand united in our fundamental American moral values that we must do everything possible to ensure children are not starving and that infants are not denied critical food aid. Later the same day, she reiterated this sentiment, stating, “We stand united in our fundamental American moral values that we must do everything possible to ensure children are not starving and that infants are not denied critical food aid. Escobar also highlighted coordinated efforts with other lawmakers: “Following Friday’s UN declaration of famine in Gaza, I’ve joined @RepPressley, @RepPettersen, and 100 other colleagues to call on the Trump Administration to use its full power and authority to demand that the Israeli government immediately facilitate a massive surge in aid.”

Veronica Escobar has represented her district since winning her first election in 2018. She has consistently secured re-election against Irene Armendariz-Jackson, most recently in 2024 with 59.5% of the vote compared to Armendariz-Jackson’s 40.4%. In previous elections—2022, 2020, and 2018—she won by similarly wide margins.

Her latest calls for humanitarian action come amid heightened international concern over conditions in Gaza after the United Nations declared a famine. The appeal is part of a broader effort by U.S. lawmakers urging executive intervention to address the crisis.
