U.S. Representative Veronica Escobar has addressed concerns about election security and recent proposals regarding voting methods, sharing her views in a series of posts on August 18, 2025.
In one post, Escobar referenced the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) assessment of the 2024 election, stating: “Let’s be clear: CISA, the agency tasked with protecting our critical infrastructure, has said that ‘[there was] no evidence of any malicious activity that had a material impact on the security or integrity of our election infrastructure’ in 2024.” This comment follows public debate over the reliability and safety of U.S. elections.
Escobar also responded to former President Donald Trump’s calls for changes to voting procedures. On August 18, she posted: “Trump’s latest proposals to eliminate mail-in voting and the use of voting machines does nothing but further diminish the faith people have in our elections while preventing Americans from participating in our electoral process.”
Highlighting local implications, Escobar added: “Yet should Trump move forward with eliminating the use of mail-in ballots, that would’ve meant that for 2024, almost 10,700 El Pasoans would’ve had their mail-in votes not count.”
Veronica Escobar has represented her district since winning office in 2018. She secured re-election against Irene Armendariz-Jackson in multiple cycles—including victories by significant margins in both 2020 and 2024—and previously defeated Rick Seeberger in her first campaign.
