Rep. Veronica Escobar, a U.S. Congresswoman from Texas, posted a series of statements on social media addressing recent international and historical events.

On August 11, 2025, Escobar wrote: “The Israeli Government has killed nearly 270 journalists, including the 5 killed today, in less than 2 years.

Mass starvation, indiscriminate killing of civilians, the inhumanity, bloodshed and war crimes must end.

The world – starting with the U.S. – must condemn and end this https://t.co/T0m1ADacuY

Two days later, on August 13, 2025, she shared two links without further commentary: “https://t.co/jXEnQgRG3f https://t.co/ZJUq7a9BlJ”.

On August 14, 2025, Escobar marked an anniversary by stating: ” On August 14, 1935, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed the Social Security Act into law, creating an economic lifeline for millions of Americans facing poverty during the Great Depression and millions more in the decades since.”

Veronica Escobar has served as a member of Congress representing Texas’s 16th district since her first election victory in 2018. She won re-election against Rick Seeberger that year with over two-thirds of the vote. In subsequent elections—2020, 2022, and 2024—she defeated Irene Armendariz-Jackson each time with margins ranging from approximately 59% to nearly 65% of the vote.
