Representative Veronica Escobar, a Democratic member of Congress, used her social media platform on September 25, 2025, to address concerns regarding the expiration of tax credits for Affordable Care Act (ACA) coverage and the ongoing debate over healthcare funding in the United States.

In her first post, Escobar warned about the potential impact of expiring ACA tax credits: “The tax credits that help Americans pay for Affordable Care Act coverage will go away at the end of the year, and this means millions of Americans won’t be able to afford their healthcare anymore.” This statement highlights concerns that many Americans could lose access to affordable health insurance if these subsidies are not renewed.

Escobar continued by emphasizing her party’s efforts to protect healthcare funding: “We are fighting for you, and we’ve told our colleagues they need to stop the cuts to healthcare funding that hurt the American people and work with us in a bipartisan manner to lower costs.” She called for bipartisan cooperation in order to prevent reductions in healthcare support.

In a third message posted on the same day, Escobar addressed legislative negotiations: “Although we are in the minority, Democrats have offered a proposal to prevent this catastrophic increase, but Republicans and the president himself have walked away from the negotiating table.” Here she noted that despite being in the minority party, Democrats had put forward proposals aimed at preventing increased costs for Americans but claimed that Republican lawmakers and President had disengaged from discussions.

Veronica Escobar has represented her district since winning election in 2018. In recent electoral cycles, she has consistently defeated her opponents by significant margins. In 2022, she won against Irene Armendariz-Jackson with 63.5% of the vote; in 2024 she again defeated Armendariz-Jackson with 59.5%; in 2020 she secured victory with 64.7%; and in her initial race in 2018 she beat Rick Seeberger with 68.5%. These results reflect sustained support within her constituency.
