Janusz Ratowski has joined the UTEP men’s basketball team, head coach Joe Golding announced on May 12. Ratowski, a 6-foot-11 post player, previously played for Stetson and spent the 2024-25 season with Texas A&M.
The addition of Ratowski brings international experience and size to the UTEP Miners. He has played for multiple teams in Poland and was invited to join the Poland under-20 national team in 2024.
During his time at Stetson, Ratowski appeared in 25 games off the bench, averaging 2.2 points per game on 63.2 percent shooting in just under eight minutes per contest. He contributed an average of 1.7 rebounds per game and added seven blocks and six steals over the season. Nearly half of his total rebounds were on offense. His best performance included scoring a career-high eleven points against North Alabama on January 1 while making all four field goal attempts.
Ratowski also showed strong performances against Fort Lauderdale with five points and eight rebounds, as well as seven points on perfect shooting at Miami (Florida). He continued efficient play throughout other games against Wright State, Central Arkansas, and Southern Utah.
Before coming to college basketball in the United States, Ratowski gained experience with SMS PZKosz Wladyssalwowo from 2020 to 2024 in Poland where he started during his final two seasons. In the Polish league during the 2023-24 campaign he nearly averaged a double-double with over nine points and nine rebounds per game across twenty-eight appearances.
His international resume includes competing at events like the Polish U19 championship where he averaged more than fifteen points and eleven rebounds across nine games. He also posted strong numbers facing teams such as Profbud Legia Warszawa and Flota Gdynia.
