Trinitarios gang leader sentenced to 14 years for racketeering conspiracy

The former leader of the Lynn Chapter of the Trinitarios gang, Aaron Diaz Liranzo, also known as Sosa, has been sentenced to 14 years in prison. This sentence follows his guilty plea to RICO conspiracy charges in March 2025. The investigation was conducted by ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations New England field office.

Diaz Liranzo, 26, will also serve three years of supervised release following his prison term. He was arrested and charged in February 2025 while serving as the leader of the Lynn Chapter of the Trinitarios.

The announcement was made by several officials including Michael J. Krol from Homeland Security Investigations New England, U.S. Attorney Leah B. Foley, FBI Boston Special Agent Ted E. Docks, Essex County District Attorney Paul F. Tucker, Massachusetts State Police Col. Geoffrey D. Noble and Lynn Police Chief Christopher P. Redd.

The Trinitarios is a criminal enterprise with thousands of members across the United States. It uses an internal hierarchy and employs violence while maintaining secrecy among its members.

In February 2025, federal racketeering charges were unsealed against 22 leaders and members of the Trinitarios after a multijurisdictional investigation linked them to four murders and several attempted murders and shootings in the Lynn area.

From at least 2021 through 2025, Diaz Liranzo held a leadership position within the gang’s Lynn Chapter and admitted involvement in a shooting incident targeting rival gang members outside a nightclub in March 2019.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for New Hampshire along with other law enforcement agencies provided assistance in this case.

The allegations detailed in court documents are yet to be proven for other defendants who remain presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
