U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) in Houston, along with the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office and the Houston Metro Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, conducted a search on June 3 at a residence in Galveston, Texas. The operation led to the arrest of three individuals suspected of being in the country illegally.

The search warrant was executed as part of an investigation into suspected child sexual abuse materials. During the operation, Edgar Javier Escobedo Castillo, an 18-year-old from Mexico, was arrested for possession of such materials. Additionally, Javier Escobedo Rangel and Nieves Castillo Guzman, both 49 years old and also from Mexico, were detained for administrative immigration violations.

This investigation is ongoing and is a collaborative effort between HSI Houston’s Galveston office and the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office. It began after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children reported suspicious online activity associated with social media accounts linked to Escobedo Javier.
