Rep. Veronica Escobar, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 16th district, shared a series of tweets reflecting on the tragic events of August 3, 2019, when a mass shooting occurred at a Walmart in El Paso. Her messages highlighted the impact on survivors and victims' families, as well as developments related to justice for those affected.

In her first tweet dated March 26, 2025, Rep. Escobar stated: "On August 3, 2019, 23 precious souls were taken from us. Every single El Pasoan was devastated by the mass shooting at Walmart that day." She emphasized the deep trauma experienced by survivors and loved ones.

Continuing her reflections on March 26, she noted: "The white supremacist who drove to El Paso with hate for our people and who called immigrants 'an invasion,' will never leave his prison cell or be able to hurt another human being again." Rep. Escobar expressed hope for peace for those still suffering from physical and emotional pain.

In another post on the same date, she criticized former District Attorney Yvonne Rosales: "Former DA Yvonne Rosales wasted precious time and failed to provide the families and survivors what they needed most: justice." She commended James Montoya's decision-making process in consultation with affected families and survivors.
