There were 187 Pacific Islander students enrolled in El Paso ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 3.6% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that El Paso ISD schools welcomed 50,031 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, Pacific Islander students comprised 0.4% of the student body to be one of the least represented ethnicities in the district.

El Paso ISD roughly covers schools within El Paso County and has a main office in El Paso.

Among the 75 schools in El Paso ISD schools, Chapin High School recorded the highest enrollment of Pacific Islander students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of 24 students.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
