The City of El Paso is thrilled to announce the reopening of one of its most beloved branch libraries: The Dorris Van Doren Library.
The branch was closed temporarily for renovations made possible through the City of El Paso's 2012 Quality of Life bond program. The library, a cornerstone of the Westside community, has undergone a transformative facelift aimed at enhancing the overall experience for patrons.
“We invite the community to join us in celebrating the reopening of the transformed Dorris Van Doren Library that promises to be a hub for knowledge, creativity, and social connection for years to come,” said El Paso Public Libraries Director Norma Martinez.
Thanks to an approximate $960,000 investment, the Dorris Van Doren Library now boasts new and upgraded paint and flooring throughout the building as well as beautiful new exterior cladding, improved infrastructure, and expanded programming spaces. The renovation project focused on creating a more inviting and dynamic space for learning and community engagement.
The reopening celebration will feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony, guided tours of the upgraded facilities, special programming, and free refreshments.
