There were 2,000 white students enrolled in Socorro ISD schools in the 2021-22 school year, 14.9% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Socorro ISD schools welcomed 47,278 students during the 2021-22 school year. Among them, white students comprised 4.2% of the student body to be one of the least represented ethnicities in the district.

Socorro ISD roughly covers schools within El Paso County and has a main office in El Paso.

Among the 50 schools in Socorro ISD schools, Pebble Hills High School recorded the highest enrollment of white students in the 2021-22 school year, with a total of 175 students.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
