The El Paso Chamber of Commerce will be launching a pilot program aimed at providing rapid COVID-19 testing program for citizens and small businesses.
The city was selected by Gov. Greg Abbott in conjunction with the Texas Division of Emergency Management to pilot the initiative. El Paso was one of five Chambers of Commerce in Texas to be chosen.
“Our goal with this first phase of the pilot is to demonstrate its efficacy across industries and types of small businesses," David Jerome, president and CEO of the El Paso Chamber, said. "Once we are able to establish that this pilot works and is scalable, we will start to look at expanding the program and opening up the testing to more businesses. Our ultimate goal is to be able to roll this out for our business community as a whole.”
Businesses that participate in the program will receive 40 COVID-19 rapid tests for their staff.
