Each year, the El Paso Community Foundation holds its Spirit of Giving event. This year is slated to be the 32nd annual event, in which community members come together to provide holiday gifts and resources to those in need.

However, this year presents unique challenges in the face of the coronavirus pandemic. The El Paso Community Foundation is planning on holding the event, albeit with guidelines and precautions to ensure it is safe.

Those who wish to participate in the event can find a gift tag at one of the trees in Cielo Vista Mall and Sunland Park Mall starting the week of Thanksgiving. Once they have acquired a gift, they can drop it off at one of the following times: Dec. 11 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Dec. 12 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Dec. 14-16 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The El Paso Community Foundation is also providing participants to purchase a gift and register online. Since 1989, El Pasoans have given 61,000 gifts to families in need.
