Graduates earn 543 degrees, certificates from Western Technical College

About 46.4 percent of the 543 degrees and certificates handed out by Western Technical College in 2017-18 were to students in mechanic and repair technologies/technicians programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the private for-profit institution in Paso conferred 252 associate's degrees in mechanic and repair technologies/technicians programs.

But the single most popular program was for a associate's degree in automobile/automotive mechanics technology/technician. Data shows the school gave out 141 associate's degrees in automobile/automotive mechanics technology/technician, followed by 111 associate's degrees in diesel mechanics technology/technician and 79 certificates in welding technology/welder.

The college enrolled 1,162 students for 2017-18, all of whom were enrolled in undergraduate programs.
