Representative Veronica Escobar, who has served in the U.S. Congress representing Texas’s 16th District since 2019, recently shared updates regarding her legislative efforts on immigration reform through a series of posts on social media. Escobar, who succeeded Beto O’Rourke and previously served on the El Paso County Commission from 2007 to 2011, announced the introduction of a bipartisan bill known as the Dignity Act.
On July 14, 2025, Escobar posted: “Last night, I shared some exciting news on ABC7 Xtra: tomorrow, I’ll be introducing my bipartisan immigration reform bill, the Dignity Act, in Congress.”
The following day, July 15, she wrote: “Together with Congresswoman Maria Salazar and a group of our Democratic and Republican colleagues, we’re trying to address an issue Congress has ignored for so long.”
Also on July 15, Escobar stated: “Our immigration system is broken and hasn’t been meaningfully updated in decades. That’s why today I introduced a comprehensive, bipartisan immigration reform bill known as the Dignity Act.”
Veronica Escobar was born in El Paso in 1969 and continues to reside there. She holds a BA from the University of Texas at El Paso.
