Rep. Veronica Escobar, a Democratic congresswoman from Texas, posted a series of tweets on August 18, 2025, addressing claims of voter fraud and the security of U.S. elections.

In her first post, Escobar highlighted recent findings from the Texas Attorney General regarding noncitizen voting in the state: “Even in Texas, despite cries from Republicans about ‘rampant voter fraud,’ the Republican Attorney General has only found 33 ‘potential noncitizens who allegedly voted’ in 2024. Out of 11.3 million ballots cast, that’s 0.0003% of votes cast.” (August 18, 2025).

She followed up by quoting election officials on the integrity of current voting systems: “They also made it clear that ‘our election infrastructure has never been more secure and the election community never better prepared to deliver safe, secure, free, and fair elections for the American people.'” (August 18, 2025).

Escobar then questioned former President Donald Trump’s motivations regarding mail-in voting: “So why is Trump doing this, and why now? At several points last year, he encouraged his own supporters to vote by mail.” (August 18, 2025).

Veronica Escobar has represented her district since defeating Rick Seeberger in the general election in 2018 with a significant margin. She continued her electoral success against Irene Armendariz-Jackson in subsequent elections—winning with over 59% of the vote in both the 2022 and 2024 contests.

The issue of voter fraud has been a recurring topic in national debates. Despite frequent allegations of widespread irregularities, documented cases remain rare relative to total ballots cast.
