Rep. Veronica Escobar, a current member of the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 16th district, shared several thoughts on May 5, 2025, via social media. Escobar, who has been serving in Congress since replacing Beto O’Rourke in 2019 and has a background in local governance as a former El Paso County Commissioner from 2007 to 2011, commented on various political issues through her posts.

In her first post at 3:15 PM, Rep. Escobar succinctly remarked “How convenient,” linking to an external content without further elaboration.

Later that day at 5:48 PM, she criticized Republican actions upon returning to Washington. She wrote about Republicans “callously bickering about how many billions of dollars are ‘acceptable’ to cut from Medicaid” and attempting to change the name of the Gulf of Mexico, characterizing these activities as their interpretation of “the people’s work.”

In another statement posted at 9:14 PM, Rep. Escobar expressed concern over Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s conduct regarding the conflict in Gaza. She stated that his execution of war efforts continues “to disregard every moral red line and international humanitarian law,” highlighting severe humanitarian consequences such as suffering and starvation among Gazans amid plans by the Israeli government for potential territorial actions.

Veronica Escobar was born in El Paso, Texas in 1969 and currently resides there. She is an alumna of the University of Texas at El Paso where she completed her BA degree.
