U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has removed Amal Said, a Pakistani citizen and convicted international drug trafficker, to Pakistan on March 5. This follows his conviction by the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York for international narcotics conspiracy and attempted international distribution of heroin, which resulted in a sentence of 131 months.
Brian McShane, acting Field Office Director for ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations in Philadelphia, commented on the removal: “The extradition, conviction and removal of Amal Said demonstrates the collaborative, whole-of-government approach that ICE supports in protecting the citizens of the U.S.” He further stated, “Our dedicated officers and partners in law enforcement have worked tirelessly to ensure such dangerous individuals are brought to justice and then removed from the United States.”
Said was initially paroled into the United States at New York by U.S. Customs and Border Protection for prosecution. ICE encountered him at Federal Correctional Institution Loretto on August 8, 2023, where he was served with a notice and order of expedited removal alongside an immigration detainer lodged with the facility.
Upon his release from incarceration, Said was arrested and detained by ICE and remained in custody throughout his removal proceedings.
