U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has detained a man born in Tajikistan and holding Russian citizenship, who is wanted internationally. The arrest was conducted by ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations in Philadelphia, with assistance from the FBI, on May 23.
The individual, aged 39, was apprehended in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. “Arresting individuals linked to terrorist organizations such as Al-Qaeda reaffirms our unwavering commitment to safeguard the homeland,” stated ERO Philadelphia acting Field Office Director Brian McShane. He praised the efforts of ICE and FBI personnel for their work in ensuring national security.
This suspect was initially encountered at the San Ysidro Pedestrian West point of entry in California on March 21, 2023. At that time, he was deemed inadmissible under the Immigration and Nationality Act due to lacking an immigrant visa. Consequently, he received a notice to appear before an immigration judge and was temporarily allowed into the United States.
Tajikistan authorities recently labeled him a fugitive for allegedly organizing a criminal community and suggested his involvement with Al-Qaeda. Following his capture, he remains in ICE custody awaiting deportation proceedings.
For those with relevant information or suspicions regarding criminal activities, they are encouraged to contact ICE through their Tip Line at 866-DHS-2-ICE (866-347-2423) or via the online tip form.
