U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has removed Miguel Saldivar-Moran, a Mexican national, from the United States to Mexico. Saldivar, who was illegally present in the U.S., has a history of criminal convictions, including crimes such as a course of sexual conduct against a child and a criminal sex act.
“ICE will not tolerate criminal aliens who violate innocent children in our communities,” stated ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Acting Deputy Field Office Director Philip Rhoney. “We will pursue these vile predators with utmost urgency and effect their removal from the United States.”
According to authorities, Saldivar, 45, admitted to entering the U.S. illegally in 1997 by crossing the border from Mexico into Arizona, without authorization from a U.S. immigration official. Between 2003 and 2013, he was convicted of multiple counts of driving while intoxicated and endangering the welfare of a child, resulting in probation and fines. A U.S. immigration judge had ordered his removal on September 7, 2016, but Saldivar’s appeal to the Board of Immigration Appeals was denied on June 30, 2017.
Saldivar’s latest conviction occurred on May 14, 2019, where he was found guilty by the Suffolk County Court on Long Island, New York for several crimes, including first-degree sexual abuse and acts injurious to a child. Following his release from the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision custody in Attica, New York, Saldivar was arrested by ICE Buffalo on April 10.
