U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has deported Roxana Juarez-Balbastro, a Mexican fugitive wanted for domestic violence. On April 29, ICE moved Juarez-Balbastro from the Eloy Detention Center to the Dennis DeConcini Port of Entry in Nogales, handing her over to Mexican authorities.
“This fugitive attempted to flee justice in Mexico and take refuge in Arizona, which is a direct threat to our communities across Arizona,” stated John Cantu, ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Phoenix Field Office Director. He emphasized the collaboration between ICE and international law enforcement to remove criminal aliens sought in their home countries.
Juarez-Balbastro had entered the United States on January 23, 2020, using a visitor visa. The following day, the Arizona Department of Public Safety arrested her for transporting dangerous drugs for sale. Subsequently, on February 5, 2021, the Superior Court of Arizona in Pinal County convicted her of conspiracy to commit transportation of dangerous drugs for sale, sentencing her to a six-year prison term.
For those with information about foreign fugitives or criminal aliens illegally residing in the U.S., ICE has provided a Tip Line at 866-347-2423, or 001-1802-872-6199 for international calls. Tips can also be submitted through ICE’s online form.
