U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has deported Jesus Vazquez Daniel, a 59-year-old accused of murder, back to Mexico after being on the run for two decades. The deportation took place on May 22, following his arrest earlier this year.
Vazquez is alleged to have murdered a Mexican national in Hidalgo, Mexico, on October 1, 2004. After years of evading capture, ICE officers transported him from the Montgomery Processing Center in Conroe to the Juarez-Lincoln Bridge Port of Entry in Laredo, where he was handed over to Mexican authorities.
Bret Bradford, ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Houston Field Office Director, commented on the case: “For the past 20 years, this accused murderer evaded authorities while the family of his alleged victim was forced to wait patiently praying that justice might one day be served.” He credited the successful deportation to “outstanding teamwork and unyielding persistence by ICE officers from the Dallas and Houston field offices.”
Vazquez had entered the United States illegally at an unknown time and location without inspection or parole. On July 18, 2024, ERO Dallas informed ERO Houston about Vazquez’s potential illegal residence in Hillsboro. An investigation confirmed his presence there along with an open warrant for his arrest in Mexico. On February 2, ICE officers arrested Vazquez with assistance from local law enforcement agencies. He was subsequently placed into immigration proceedings at the Montgomery Processing Center.
On May 13, an immigration judge ordered Vazquez’s removal to Mexico. For more updates on ICE’s activities related to immigration law enforcement and public safety efforts in Southeast Texas, follow @EROHouston on X.
