U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) apprehended a Guatemalan national in Hartford, Connecticut. The individual, Carlos Antonio Zepeda-Ruiz, faces charges of three counts of risk of injury to a child and disorderly conduct. The arrest took place on February 27, with officers from ICE Boston carrying out the operation.
“Carlos Antonio Zepeda-Ruiz apparently endangered the safety of a Connecticut child and presents a threat to the residents of Connecticut,” announced Patricia H. Hyde, acting Field Office Director of ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston. Hyde emphasized the agency’s commitment: “We will not allow criminal aliens to endanger the safety of our communities. ICE Boston will continue to prioritize public safety by arresting and removing illegal alien threats from New England.”
Zepeda’s entry into the United States occurred on July 14, 2023, at the San Ysidro West Port of Entry. He applied using the “CBP One” immigration processing application. As a result, he received a notice to appear before a Justice Department immigration judge and was paroled into the United States.
The Bridgeport Police Department took Zepeda into custody on July 23, 2024, on the mentioned charges. His subsequent arrest by ICE Boston underscores the ongoing enforcement efforts within the region.
