U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested a Guatemalan national charged with assault and battery of a family member and assault and battery on a child with injury in Revere, Massachusetts. The individual, Cosme De Leon-Barrios, 46, was apprehended by officers from ICE Boston on January 27.

“Cosme De Leon-Barrios is charged with brutally assaulting a child with an injury in our Massachusetts community,” remarked Patricia H. Hyde, acting Field Office Director for ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston. She added, “He represents a significant threat to the residents of New England that ICE Boston will not tolerate. We stand committed to our mission of prioritizing public safety by arresting and removing illegal alien threats to our neighbors.”

The details surrounding De Leon-Barrios’ entry into the United States are unclear. He entered the country without being inspected, admitted, or paroled by a U.S. immigration official.

The Revere Police Department first arrested De Leon-Barrios on January 27. Following his release from local custody, ICE Boston officers detained him again. He remains in ICE custody.

The public is encouraged to report crimes or suspicious activity to ICE by calling 866-DHS-2-ICE (866-347-2423) or by completing an online tip form.
