On July 10, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations special agents arrested Lizamarie Rivera-García, a 42-year-old woman from Bayamón, Puerto Rico. She has been charged with sex trafficking of children.
HSI San Juan Special Agent in Charge Rebecca C. Gonzalez-Ramos stated, “We cannot let our guard down! Our children are being sexually exploited by individuals in positions of public trust. Law enforcement agencies are committed to being the voice of these victims.” She further emphasized that HSI is dedicated to ensuring that children receive necessary support to overcome trauma and that those responsible for such crimes are apprehended.
Court documents reveal that between December 2023 and October 2024, Rivera-García recruited, enticed, transported, and maintained a 15-year-old boy for commercial sex acts. She is also accused of using the internet and social media to transfer obscene material to minors.
Additionally, from December 2023 to November 2024, Rivera-García allegedly engaged a 17-year-old boy in similar activities.
If convicted, Rivera-García faces severe penalties including mandatory minimum imprisonment terms ranging from 10 years up to life for various charges related to child sex trafficking and coercion.
A federal district court judge will determine her sentence based on U.S. sentencing guidelines and other factors.
